Where does your produce come from?

South Shore Organics works with local organic growers to bring you the freshest seasonal produce available. We purchase food from several small family farms throughout Plymouth County, as well as neighboring counties. Please visit the 'Farmers and Crew' page to view a complete list of the farms and businesses we work with. The contents of our baskets changes weekly depending upon what is being harvested. We also work with farms along the East Coast Food shed out of season, and an organic distributor from New England to round out our offerings and ensure that your basket is full of produce all year long.

How fresh is the produce?

Fresh produce does not stay in our possession for more than 48 hours. We receive the food and put the baskets together in one day. The baskets are delivered to your door the next day. We order only what we need for each delivery.

How does the produce compare to grocery stores?

The quality is better because you get it's fresher! The local produce is picked on Monday for delivery Tuesday, and again on Wednesday and Thursday for delivery Thursday and Friday. Much of the produce travels less than 50 miles to your table. The produce that comes from the organic distributor doesn't sit on a store shelf out in the open. It isn't waiting to be purchased in an open refrigerator or in a stack of other produce piled high. It hasn't been poked or squeezed or smelled or dropped on the floor. In the grocery stores, produce is held in the back until the older produce is sold. All of our produce is received and delivered within 48 hours.

Is everything organic?

Some local farms in Plymouth and neighboring counties are not certified organic by the USDA. We work with those local farms that use sustainable growing practices. All the produce that we source from further afield (ha! mind the pun) is certified organic without compromise.

How will this service save me time, money, and gasoline?

You will reduce the time you spend at the grocery store substantially by not having to shop and sort through all the fruit and vegetables that others have already sorted through. You will not have to drive to various farmers markets or farms to find the best produce because we do that for you. Our prices are comparable, and delivery is free!

What is the delivery area?

We deliver to Plymouth County and parts of Norfolk County. If you live outside the South Shore area, please contact us anyway. We will consider making special arrangements.

What days/times do you deliver?

Tuesdays for Nourish to Flourishers, Thursdays and Fridays for residential customers from late morning until 6pm.

On hot days, how will you keep the produce fresh?

We recommend that you leave out a cooler with a couple ice packs. We will transfer the produce into the cooler. If you leave a cooler out, please let us know. We are not responsible for produce that wilts after we make a delivery. We are happy to transfer it to a cooler, put it in a refrigerator, etc.

What about rainy days?

All of our reusable 100% recycled containers are moisture and chemical resistant. They also have a lid to keep the rain and critters out.

What if I am a residential delivery customer, and I do not like what's in my basket?

We offer our residential customers the opportunity to make changes to their baskets, you can swap what you don't like, for something you would prefer!

What do I do with the empty container?

When we bring your next delivery, we will switch out the container. Please take good care of the container while it is in your possession. If a container is damaged or lost, there is a $20.00 charge. If you cancel service, just leave the empty container out for us on the regular delivery day and we will pick it up. The green containers are to be used for our service only. If you prefer to have your produce delivered in a cardboard box, please let us know.

Is your service guaranteed?

If you are dissatisfied with any of your produce, service, or delivery, please let us know within 24 hours of your delivery, and we will credit you with extra items in your next basket. Our goal is to ensure that you are 100% satisfied.

What if I am going away or want to cancel service?

You can make changes to your delivery frequency, block out vacation days, or cancel service. All changes or updates must be reported to us 72 hours prior to delivery.

What is your privacy policy?

All of our customer information is kept strictly confidential. We never release customer information. Ever.

How do I pay?

We currently accept check, cash, Visa and MasterCard credit cards. We have a secure online credit card data storing and processing partner, for your peace of mind. That is their only job. Which is cool because then we can focus on vegetables. Payment is expected on the delivery day. If you forget to leave a payment and do not arrange to pay by credit card, you may mail the payment within five days of delivery. If payment is not postmarked by the fifth day after your delivery, a $10 late fee will be added.

Will I love this service?

We hope so!
